Costa Rica's diving splits into 6 regions: Guanacaste in the north Pacific, the Southern Nicoya Peninsula, the Central Pacific, the Southern Pacific with Caño Island, the Caribbean coast, and Cocos Island far offshore.
The regions
- Guanacaste: the Bat Islands, Catalina Islands and Playas del Coco
- Southern Nicoya: Montezuma, Tambor and the Gulf of Nicoya
- Central Pacific: Jacó and Manuel Antonio
- Southern Pacific: Caño Island, Drake Bay and Uvita
- Caribbean: Cahuita and Puerto Viejo
- Cocos Island: liveaboard diving with hammerheads
